The head of political Council of party “Oppositional platform For life” Viktor Medvedchuk accused the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the growth of domestic gas tariffs. He declared it on air of TV channel NewsOne, a recording is available on the YouTube channel show called “Opposition”.
“Gas prices increased from 2014 to 2019 on 1090 percent. Utility bills increased on average by 740 percent. The cost of heat increased by 1,225 percent,” he calculated, adding that 30 percent of the population are unable to pay these bills.
According to Medvedchuk, one of the factors of growth of prices was the illegal establishment of the National Commission of regulation of energy and utilities after coming to power of Poroshenko in 2014.
On 12 June, the representative of the President of Ukraine in the government of Andrew Gerus said that Zelensky during his election campaign did not promise to lower gas prices. According to him, the Ukrainian leader spoke about the high tariffs for the population, but promised nothing. “Zelensky joked about the rates that they are high,” he said.
