Head frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” project 22350 of the Navy (Navy) Russia is the most modern Russian military ship, but not sent on a long voyage without towing equipment, writes The Drive.
“Sending [in the Caribbean] first and only frigate of project 22350 is clearly designed to demonstrate the latest capabilities of the Russian Navy,” — says the American edition.
Further, the publication The Drive draws attention to the accompanying “Admiral Gorshkov” vessel logistics “Elbrus”, the average sea tanker “Kama” and rescue tug “Nikolay Chiker”.
“The squad underlines the continuing challenges actually facing the Russian Navy, truly spreading their power far from the shores of the country”, — concludes the edition, reminding that the “Nikolay Chiker” is known for having previously participated in the towing of the only Russian aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov”.
However, The Drive recognizes that “Admiral Gorshkov” towing equipment still is not required.
On June 18 Admiral Gorshkov began to pass the Panama canal, leading from the Pacific to the Caribbean sea.
In October 2018, Business Insider wrote that the Russian ships departing on a long voyage during NATO exercises in escort towing technology, are an iconic Testament to the biggest problem of the Russian Navy.
Head frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” was laid down in 2006, launched in 2010 and entered the fleet in 2018. The second frigate of project 22350 “Admiral Kasatonov” passes sea trials. The third and fourth ships, “Admiral Golovko” and “Admiral Isakov”, are under construction. Project 22350 frigates have a displacement of 4.5 thousand tons and can carry up to 16 “Caliber”.
