The General Director of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” Alexander Medvedev spoke about the future of striker Alexander Kokorin in the team. His words leads to “Sport-Express”.
Medvedev said that the issue of extending the player’s contract will be reviewed after he is released. “The man is still in jail, then must be followed in the colony. Then there will be some decisions,” he added.
On 13 June, the Moscow city court sentenced Kokorin a half years of imprisonment in a General regime colony, midfielder “Krasnodar” Pavel Mamaev to one year five months.
Both players have been in jail since October of 2018. The detention was extended repeatedly. Last fall Kokorin and Mamaev staged two fights in the center of Moscow.
In the last season of the Russian Premier League Kokorin took part in three matches of “Zenith”, after being on the field a little more than 70 minutes. The football player’s contract with the club expires in July 2019.
