Instead of attention to the problems of the residents of Donbass, the European Union, “the habit” extends to sanctions. This statement was made by Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Grushko, reports RIA Novosti.
“In the conclusions of the European Council once again did not see understanding from the EU to the humanitarian motives which prompted the Russian leadership to take a decision on the introduction of a simplified procedure for granting Russian passports to residents of DND and LNR”, — said the Deputy Minister. He added that the non-recognition of passports from the EU is unlikely to scare the residents of Donbass, “many of whom are already in their fifth year to survive in the Ukrainian siege and shelling”.
On 21 June it became known that the EU may consider the issue of non-recognition of Russian passports issued to residents of Donbass.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the facilitation of the issuance of passports to residents of the breakaway Donetsk and Lugansk national republics on April 24. Kiev has considered the decision preparing for the annexation of the region and appealed in this regard to the UN security Council. Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has promised “system and an asymmetrical response to the passport banditry”. Issued in the Donbass Russian passports in Ukraine is recognized as invalid.
The armed conflict in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts began in 2014. Ukraine accuses Russia of involvement in the fighting in the Donbass. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it has nothing to do with the conflict.
