UEFA refused to punish players for Georgian anti-Russian action

The Union of European football associations (UEFA) has commented on the action of the Georgian players came to the League matches in shirts with anti-Russian slogans. Reports about it “CHempionata”.

UEFA stressed that the incidents took place in the domestic championship, because of what the case is investigated by the Union. “Further disciplinary action, within the jurisdiction of the relevant bodies of the football Federation of Georgia”, — reported in the organization.

In the matches of the 19th round of the championship of Georgia some of the players entered the field wearing t-shirts with anti-Russian slogans. Among them the players of “torpedo” Kutaisi, Tbilisi “Locomotive” and “metallurg” from Rustavi. The lettering on the shirts was that part of Georgian territory is under Russian occupation. According to Sports.ru the players of “torpedo” Nodar Kavtaradze and Vakhtang Nebieridze who participated in the campaign, have Russian citizenship.

The riots in Tbilisi began on 20 June. Thousands protest provoked the incident with the participation of state Duma Deputy Sergei Gavrilov, who took the seat of the speaker of the Georgian Parliament during the opening session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. The protesters went to storm the Parliament in the Georgian capital. As a result of clashes injured 240 people, including 80 police officers.
