Ukraine officially announced its withdrawal from the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) after the restoration of the rights of the Russian delegation. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

Following the announcement by Russia of the Ukrainian delegation left the meeting room.

During discussion of the resolution, the head of the delegation from Kiev, the Deputy Vladimir Aryev, said that his country was deceived. According to him, the European partners have promised that will restore Moscow rights, until you have completed all the requirements for it. “History will judge us, history will decide how things will develop,” he said.

Earlier, PACE returned to the Russian delegation all the powers in full. In support of this decision spoke 116 deputies, against — 62. Another 15 MPs abstained. During the meeting also considered amendments to the resolution submitted by Ukraine and Georgia. In particular, among them was a proposal to delete a phrase on the credentials of the Russian delegation. The amendment was rejected.

That Ukraine plans to suspend its membership in the organization or to leave it reported on 25 June after the resolution on the restoration of the rights of Russia has received the amendments. Kiev has recalled its representative in the Council of Europe for consultations. The head of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry said that it is considering a waiver of the PACE observation mission for parliamentary elections.

Russia was deprived of the basic powers in PACE — in particular, the right to vote — in April 2014 due to the reunification of the Crimea and military operations in the South-East of Ukraine. In 2017 Russia, which is the biggest contributor PACE, froze payment of membership dues.
