Australian student rescued from North Korea

Student from Australia Alec Sigli, who was detained in North Korea left the territory of this country. About it reports Reuters.

The Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison said that the Sigli had been released with the help of the staff of the Swedish Embassy in North Korea. “He left the territory of the DPRK,” — said the leader of the state. Additional information about the case is not given.

The sigli had been in North Korea for their studies: he studied North Korean literature at the University of Kim Il sung and was in the country for three months in a row with breaks. He also organized educational tours to North Korea. In July he was going to go to Tokyo.

In 2015, North Korean authorities arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison on the American student of Otto Frederick Wambier. Two years later it managed to get out, but as a result of ill-treatment by prison guards on returning to the US he died.
