The number of abortions in Russia since the beginning of 2000-ies has decreased more than three times. This was told by Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova, reports TASS.
According to her, in the early 2000s the country was interrupted to 2.13 million pregnancies, and the problem of “standing there”. In 2018, there were already at least 600 thousand, excluding therapeutic abortions. Golikova called the figures a positive development, but noted that while “not proud”.
“All the efforts of medical and social services, crisis pregnancy centers, which operate in the regions, they just aim to save human lives,” she added in a speech at the meeting of the presidential Council for the implementation of the state policy in the sphere of protection of family and children.
Earlier in July the head of the accounts chamber Alexey Kudrin said that Russia is not the leader of the traditional values, because there are many divorces, abortions, high infant mortality and child poverty. He encouraged officials to think not only about Patriotic education, but also “to teach the history of repression in the USSR”, in order to prevent their recurrence.
