The President of Russia Vladimir Putin believes that the Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky contrary to his promises he did during election campaign. He told about it during a press conference after a meeting with Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte.
Putin noted that Zelensky has declared its readiness to settle the conflict in the Donbass. Later, however, the Ukrainian leader announced that he did not want to engage in dialogue with the “separatists”. “Probably, it somehow does not fit with what was said during the election campaign. Wait for the end of the election campaign in Ukraine’s Parliament — let’s see what will happen in real life”, — said the Russian President.
Earlier on 4 July, Putin recalled the intention of the Ukrainian colleagues to establish direct contacts with their fellow citizens and to stop calling them separatists. The head of state noted that only after these promises can occur in dialogue between Moscow and Kiev.
In response, the EA team Zelensky explained that the words of the Ukrainian leader about the separatists do not refer to the ordinary people of Donbass, and to the leadership of the breakaway Donetsk and Lugansk national republics (DND and LNR). The adviser expressed regret that the residents of the DNI and the LC is more likely to hear Putin’s position, not Zelensky.
During his visit to France in June, Zelensky said that Ukraine is not ready to communicate with the separatists, despite the decision to continue talks in Minsk format. The words of the Ukrainian leader has criticized the DNR. The head of the Republic Denis Pushilin said that Zelensky repeats the rhetoric of his predecessor, Petro Poroshenko, is refusing dialogue with the Donbas.
