The words of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the separatists do not refer to the ordinary people of Donbass, and to the leadership of the breakaway Donetsk and Lugansk national republics (DND and LNR). This was announced by adviser to the team Zelensky for political Affairs Nikita Poturaev, commenting on the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Kiev should stop calling fellow separatists. Words Poturaeva lead “news of Donbass”.
“Putin said we must not to call people names and call them separatists. We’re all called by their names — puppets of Putin we are so called. We excluded people from certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions — they’re talking,” he said.
In addition, Poturaev expressed regret that the residents of the DNI and the LC is more likely to hear Putin’s position, not Zelensky.
Earlier on 4 July the President of Russia reminded about intention of the Ukrainian colleagues to establish direct contacts with their fellow citizens and to stop calling them separatists. Putin noted that only after these promises can occur in dialogue between Moscow and Kiev.
During his visit to France in June, Zelensky said that Ukraine is not ready to communicate with the separatists, despite the decision to continue talks in Minsk format. The words of the Ukrainian leader has criticized the DNR. The head of the Republic Denis Pushilin said that Zelensky repeats the rhetoric of his predecessor, Petro Poroshenko, is refusing dialogue with the Donbas.
