Lithuania has lost the trial of the Russian company “Gazprom” in the court of appeal of Sweden. It is reported RIA Novosti with reference to the decision of the court.
The Lithuanian side in the district court of appeal of Svea demanded to cancel the decision of the Stockholm arbitration refusal to recover from “Gazprom” in favor of Vilnius, about 1.5 billion dollars. Lithuania tried to convince the court that “Gazprom” inflated selling prices in the period from 2006 to 2015, the first version of the lawsuit was filed in 2012.
In 2016, the arbitration was denied by the Lithuanian side in the claim, then Lithuania filed in the court of appeal with a demand to cancel this decision. In a year, “Gazprom” asked to withdraw the case from court, in the end, in 2019, the court of appeal confirmed the rightness of the Russian state.
The court recognized the prices of the Russian company fair and refused Lithuania in the recovery of compensation, moreover, the Lithuanian side will be forced to pay to “Gazprom” all court costs.
