More than ten million Android users were victims of fraud by downloading from Google Play app Updates for Samsung (the”Samsung Updates”), offering users to obtain packages of improvements from the supposedly official developer. It is reported working in the field of cyber-security company CSIS.
After installing the application, users see the page updato.com with many ads. They can be removed for $ 9 (about 570 rubles). Also, the user is offered a yearly subscription for updates smartphone 34.9 dollar (about 2.2 thousand). It is not through GooglePlay service. The application redirects the credit card information on updato.com.

CSIS analyst of Alexas Cuprins (Aleksejs Kuprins) said in an interview with ZDNet that he went to GooglePlay with a request to remove the app from the store. In his opinion, the program cannot be considered malicious. Cuprins defines it rather as fraudulent, and advises users to install updates only from the settings menu of the smartphone.
