Russia needs high-speed railway (HSR) from Moscow to the Black sea, not only in St.-Petersburg and Kazan. This opinion was expressed by first Deputy Minister of transport Innokenty Alafinov, reports TASS.
According to him, the Russians should have a choice, to fly or go by train. “When there is such a choice, then there is a mobility and people’s desire to travel around the country”, — said the representative of the Ministry of transport.
In April it became known that President of Russia Vladimir Putin has approved the design of a VSM from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Its cost is estimated at 1.5 trillion rubles. It is anticipated that the HSR trains from Moscow to St. Petersburg will cover the distance twice as fast “Peregrine” — that is two, not four hours.
Meanwhile, in recent years, as the first project was preparing the road between Moscow and Kazan. However, in April it was reported that the President of this initiative have not agreed. According to the press Secretary head of state Dmitry Peskov, the issue of creating a route in Kazan is not fully resolved, and the study of the economic feasibility of this project will be continued. Meanwhile, construction of the first phase of this VSM is part of the national project “Integrated plan for the modernization and expansion of trunk infrastructure for the period up to 2024”.
