The tanker, EN route from the Arctic to Belgium and carrying Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG), at the last moment turned and went to Israel, writes Bloomberg.
The fact that the ship changed the destination shortly before arrival, indicates how quickly traders have to shift in terms of a record decline in gas prices. In Europe the cost of gas on the exchange is at the level of a ten-year low.
It is reported that two other tankers with gas from Yamal LNG in recent weeks have made monthly trips to China and stayed in Europe. According to Bloomberg, the most efficient solution in the near future will supply gas to India and Southeast Asia.
Gas prices are declining on the back of competitive confrontation between Russia and the United States. For American suppliers fuel prices already below break even.
Earlier it was reported that coal prices, which Russia exports to the EU, fell in Europe, almost twice, down to the lowest values in 2016. Against this background, the Russian producers are trying to redirect the goods to the Asian market.
