About 80 percent mineral water on the Russian shelves — counterfeit. This statement was made by the speaker of the upper chamber of Parliament Valentina Matvienko. On Monday, July 8, reports TASS.

The head of the Federation Council refers to the views of unnamed experts, according to her, most of the water on the shelves in Russian stores of unknown origin. “According to experts, up to 80 percent of mineral water standing on the shelves does not match the name”, — assured the speaker.

Matviyenko also praised progress in this area, noting that about 30 companies that made the water “Essentuki”, banned as they did not have access to appropriate wells and, accordingly, they could not use that trademark.

Monday, July 8, the state Duma is considering the introduction of a ban on the import of Georgian wine and mineral water. The most famous brand of mineral water from Georgia is “Borjomi”, but this trademark has long been owned by Russian group of companies “Alfa-group”.
