The majority of Russians (77 percent) believes that marriage should be officially registered. This is evidenced by the results of a survey of the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM), reports TASS.
According to researchers, this view is held by most people older than 60 years (84 per cent). Another 11 percent of respondents also noted the importance of creating a family, but not considered official registration of the marriage is necessary for this condition. This opinion mainly Russians aged 18 to 24 years (17 percent) and 25 to 34 years (18 per cent).
The optimal age for marriage Russians called 24 for women and 27 for men.
In addition, every tenth Russian (10%) categorically rejects the possibility of divorce regardless of the reason. Another 30 percent of respondents believe that divorce is necessary only when the family has virtually disintegrated. 56 percent of respondents noted that to make such a decision based on the specific situation.
Among the reasons for divorce the Russians called poverty, lack of jobs and opportunities to feed the family (46 percent), infidelity and jealousy of a spouse (22 percent), selfishness and lack of understanding between spouses (21 percent).
The survey was conducted July 4, 2019, and was attended by 1.6 thousand of Russians over the age of 18 years.
Earlier in the state Duma the Russians reproached for the sake of the marriage feast. The Chairman of the Committee on family, women and children Tamara Pletnev has criticized young people in the country for the irresponsibility in matters of marriage and blamed the marriage for the sake of the wedding celebration. According to the parliamentarian, they do not take responsibility for the divorce, because is more important the celebration, organised on money of parents. Pletnev said that the reason for this behavior — in the “absence of education”.
