Cancel teleconference with Russia, Ukrainian channel turned to Zelensky

General producer of the Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne Vasily Golovanov invited the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to meet and discuss a teleconference between NewsOne and “Russia 1”. He reported about it in Facebook.

“We are ready to answer your questions. I hope you are ready to answer our questions. Hope is still not too late,” he wrote. Golovanov also added that the team NewsOne — not someone else’s puppet, what President will be able to see at a meeting with representatives of the channel.

The producer emphasized that the teleconference was originally conceived as a journalistic project without politics, without the presence in the Studio those who would doubt the ownership of the Crimea and Donbass to Ukraine. He also noted that NewsOne planned to organize a dialogue not only with the Ukrainians in Russia, but Ukrainians in the USA, Canada and other countries.

A teleconference between Moscow and Kiev was planned for July 12 on air of TV channel “Russia 1” and NewsOne. Later, however, Ukrainian journalists announced a massive attack from some political parties and canceled the stream.

Zelensky criticized the idea of the teleconference, called it “a cheap, but dangerous pre-election publicity stunt” aimed at dividing the country into two camps. In VGTRK intend to hold a teleconference despite the protests.
