Kabardino-Balkarian state University (KBSU) will present a project on genome research of a person to participate in the competition on creation of the international center. It is reported TASS with reference to head of the Department of biology, geo-ecology and molecular-genetic bases of living systems, University of Anzor Paratova.
“We are working in several directions: studying the genetic predisposition of a person to the formation of traits of temperament, are a method for early detection of breast cancer and other monogenic and multifactorial disorders, as well as exploring the molecular and genetic basis of longevity and life expectancy”, — he said. The application is prepared on the basis of these studies.
Paratov also said that University staff are researching the genes that may show that a person is predisposed to alcoholism or drug addiction and so-called “longevity gene”. “With regard to cancer research, we suggest to find for each person a treatment that will help him specifically, given the genetic predisposition of perception of a drug or method of treatment,” he added.
The creation of the international center for genomic research is provided by the national project “Science.” Its purpose, in particular, is that by 2024, Russia’s five leading countries engaged in research and development in areas determined by the priorities of scientific and technological development. Only its implementation is planned to more than 625 billion rubles.
