Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian government and society should give a decisive rebuff to information sabotage in the form of a teleconference between Ukrainian and Russian TV channels. The announcement was published on the official website of the party “European Solidarity”.
Poroshenko stressed that there must be “given adequate responses to information sabotage, which is a component of a hybrid war of Russian Federation against Ukraine”. He believes that the teleconference with the “aggressors and murderers of the Ukrainian people” is impossible.
He noted that from the reaction of the authorities and law enforcement authorities will depend on how aggressively will continue to act as a “fifth column” scenarios of the Kremlin.
The politician urged to convene an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada and the national Council on television for making” initiatives that will protect the information space of Ukraine from the brutal aggression of the aggressor”.
A teleconference between Russia and Ukraine planned to be held on 12 July at 18:00 on air of TV channel “Russia 1” and NewsOne. However, later, the Ukrainian side refused the initiative because of “a massive information attack.”
The Ukraine criticized the idea of the teleconference. The nationalists have put before the President an ultimatum, saying that “such a disgrace in the Ukrainian air will not be exact”. Yulia Tymoshenko called the events an “information attack component of the hybrid war against Ukraine”. The security service of Ukraine initiated a meeting of the Council of national security and defence, and threatened the TV with sanctions.
Representatives of NewsOne in response to the criticism noted that a teleconference between ordinary people of Ukraine and Russia: no politics, no politicians. “Each side needs to take a step to end the war”, — reads the statement of the channel.
