The Deputy of the state Duma and cosmonaut Elena Serova was watching the progress of hostilities in the Donbas from the International space station (ISS). She told about it in interview of radio station “Moscow speaking”.

According to her, her naked eye could see, as bombs exploded and shells on the territory of Donbass and Lugansk. “They were flying from the location of the Armed forces of Ukraine. And at this time there killed unarmed people,” said Serov.

She noted that he had seen it all when it flew up to the window in the break between the experiments. “Not one I’ve seen. The Windows we look down on the Ground,” he added. Serov stressed that it is not about the movement of military equipment, but only about what is visible to the naked eye.

She also said that the expedition has started to work on 26 September 2014, hostilities in Ukraine were visible from the beginning.

Elena Serova is the fourth female astronaut in the history of the USSR and Russia and the first visit to the ISS. 26 Sep 2014 she first went into space as flight engineer-1 manned spacecraft “Soyuz TMA-14M”. On the same day, Serov joined the 41st and 42nd major expeditions as a flight engineer.

The armed conflict in the Donbas began in the spring of 2014. Part of the region came under the control of Kiev after residents opposed the change of government and in a referendum supported the creation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk national republics. In response, Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation.
