Project short-haul passenger aircraft Tu-334 in comparison with the program Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) was a dead end, reported RIA Novosti head of the Ministry of industry and trade Denis Manturov.
“In short, this machine was a dead end development. That is, we would not have received any competences and international cooperation, which, although today, we have some issues and limits already, but for other reasons and factors,” — said the Minister.
According to him, although “now we cannot, without the consent of our partners to put the Superjet in those countries where we could supply without any problems and restrictions of the Tu-334”, while “we wouldn’t have gotten those ideas that I have now.”
“For me, the Superjet is important, not the number of collected planes, and formed the capital of a reliable and competitive scientific and technological solutions that allowed us to move on to the MS-21 widebody aircraft with China and so forth,” — said Manturov.
In June it became known about plans of the Russian Corporation “Irkut” buy from the American company United Technologies 40 engines for 20 aircraft MS-21.
