Project short-haul passenger aircraft Tu-334 in comparison with the program Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) was a dead end, reported RIA Novosti head of the Ministry of industry and trade Denis Manturov.

“In short, this machine was a dead end development. That is, we would not have received any competences and international cooperation, which, although today, we have some issues and limits already, but for other reasons and factors,” — said the Minister.

According to him, although “now we cannot, without the consent of our partners to put the Superjet in those countries where we could supply without any problems and restrictions of the Tu-334”, while “we wouldn’t have gotten those ideas that I have now.”

“For me, the Superjet is important, not the number of collected planes, and formed the capital of a reliable and competitive scientific and technological solutions that allowed us to move on to the MS-21 widebody aircraft with China and so forth,” — said Manturov.

In June it became known about plans of the Russian Corporation “Irkut” buy from the American company United Technologies 40 engines for 20 aircraft MS-21.

In may, when ignited Sukhoi Superjet 100 in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport killed 41 people.

In January it was reported that the MS-21 can remain without composite “black wing” because of U.S. sanctions against enterprises of Rostec, in particular — “the AeroComposite”.

Russian short-haul passenger aircraft Tu-334 made its first flight in February 1999. Total produced two such machines. The aircraft was equipped with a pair of Ukrainian turbofan engines (turbofan) D-436T1. Currently, the project Tu-334 is minimized.

Short-haul passenger aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 first flew in may 2008. Currently produced about 190 of these aircraft. The share of foreign components in the Sukhoi Superjet 100 is estimated at 80 percent. In particular, the aircraft is equipped with a pair of engines SaM146, which is a joint development of the Russian Association “Saturn” and French company Snecma.

Lignesdirectrices single-aisle passenger aircraft MS-21 (“bulk plane of the XXI century”) made its first flight in may 2017. Currently released four units of MS-21, including one for static tests. The aircraft uses a lot of Western technology and components. In particular, the machine is equipped with American engines PW1000G, which subsequently it is planned to replace the Russian PD-14.
