The state Duma recommended the government to consider the introduction of economic sanctions against Georgia. Deputies adopted a statement and sent it to the government, reports TASS.

MPs condemn anti-Russian provocations of Tbilisi, as a result invited the government to consider economic measures against Georgia. “Due to the continuing unfriendly actions of the State Duma recommends to the government of the Russian Federation to consider applications in respect of Georgia special economic measures”, — reads the statement of the deputies.

Parliamentarians believe that the continued provocations on the part of “radical Georgian forces lead to further deterioration of bilateral relations.” The government has confirmed that it is preparing appropriate measures and be prepared to present them after the discussion with representatives of business and expert community.

After the development of the measures they proposed to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Initially it was assumed that deputies will insist on a ban on supply of Georgian wines and mineral water from Georgia were also considered the option of restricting remittances to Georgia. In addition, prohibited flights between the two countries.

The decision concerning restrictive measures was adopted by the Russian establishment in the wave of anti-Russian protests, which were provoked by the visit of Russian parliamentarians to Georgia. The reason for the protests was the speech of the Russian Deputy who sat in the chair of speaker of the Georgian Parliament in the course of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy.
