Vyacheslav Volodinu: Vladimir Fedorenko / RIA Novosti
Russian President Vladimir Putin gives the Georgian authorities a chance to calm down, said the Chairman of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. It was quoted by RIA Novosti on Tuesday, July 9.
“They need to listen to our President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. It is now and again gives them a chance. Because we, the representatives of the people of Russia, that chance is not given”, — he said.
Volodin said that meant the chance to settle down. He added that parliamentarians have not changed their opinion regarding the appropriateness of economic measures against Georgia.
The speaker of the lower house of Parliament also called on the Georgian President to apologize for his anti-Russian statements. Volodin has reminded that Salome Zurabishvili has called Russia an aggressor and occupier.
Earlier on Tuesday, July 9, the state Duma unanimously adopted a statement condemning anti-Russian provocations in Georgia and urged to impose sanctions. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin sees no need for such measures.
