A group of copyright holders appealed to Roskomnadzor with a proposal to block the pirate resources entirely from the search engines without going to court. As reported by family-owned Demyan Kudryavtsev, the newspaper “Vedomosti”, they believe that to remove from search engines individual pages with pirate links is not enough.
Media companies presented their proposals in a letter to the Vice President want with Roskomnadzor Vadim Subbotin. The rate of pre-trial removal of domains in the results of search engines, rights holders want to add to the new anti-piracy amendments.
According to the newspaper, the letter was signed by the largest teleholding (“Gazprom-media”, VGTRK, “national media group”, “First channel”), live theater (Start.ru and Internet-video Association), and the Association of producers of film and television (APKIT). The representative of Roskomnadzor declined to comment on this information.
From November 2018, Russia has the anti-piracy Memorandum, which was signed by Russia’s largest Internet companies and copyright holders. In the framework of already processed 170 thousand links to illegal resources.
According to the Memorandum, the right holders submit links that contain pirated movies and TV shows, and Internet sites and remove them from search results. In case of disputes may involve representatives of Roskomnadzor.
