The owners of the Georgian channel Rustavi 2 refused to dismiss its Director General nick Gvaramia. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
On the dismissal insisted one of the shareholders Nino Nizharadze, which owns a nine percent stake in the company. According to her, because of the statements Gvaramia and host George Gabunia, the price of the asset dropped. The lawyer of the TV company Tamta Muradashvili called saying Nizharadze absurd.
Earlier the management of “Rustavi 2” rejected the dismissal of journalist Georgy Gabunia. The live insulted the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
Then Nika Gvaramia stated that the act Gabunia was in the framework of the Constitution and the law. “As if this is unacceptable it was for us, for the channel,” he said.
The incident occurred on 7 July. Gabunia in the air spoke sharply, calling Putin “stinking occupier”. Channel “Rustavi 2” has apologized for the act of a journalist. On the night of 8 July, the channel had to suspend its work because of meetings from the editorial. In the Kremlin’s behavior Gabunia called “inappropriate”.
