Huawei is in talks with Russian companies about the purchase of business and joint ventures. Among them is the developer of the Elbrus processors, writes owned by Grigory Berezkin the RBC with reference to sources in the market.
It is reported that Huawei over the past few months has called on the Russian companies, including the MCST, which develops processors “Elbrus”, the manufacturer of systems of operative-investigative measures (SORM), and other equipment to ensure information security “NORSI-TRANS”, and also the developer of the operating system “Alt” “Basalt SPO”.
“I arrived the whole delegation of Huawei from Hong Kong, offered 100 million dollars for “NORSI-TRANS” fully. In my opinion, they just want to not do Russian servers, and used Huawei’s servers. To us it is uninteresting. Then back to [Alexander] Kim (CEO of MCST — approx. “Of the tape.ru”), which makes the “Elbrus”, run, offered some cooperation, make joint enterprise”, — said the owner of the “NORSI-TRANS” Sergey Ovchinnikov. According to him, Huawei need market entry to become “in a sense, the Russian company”.
At the end of June it was reported that Huawei and Minkomsvyazi Russia will hold talks on the possibility to use the Russian operating system “Aurora” instead of Android on its devices. The Agency did not specify at what time work can begin on implementation of the Russian operating system in Huawei device, however, according to Deputy Minister Mikhail Mamonov, negotiations with specialists from Huawei will be held prior to the fall.
