More than 20 representatives of systemic and non-systemic opposition withdrew from the elections to the Moscow city Duma due to the unions and were forced to admit defeat and not joining the fight. Such an opinion shared by the experts of the Foundation for civil society development (Fcsd) in focusing on the upcoming campaign report, reports TASS.
According to experts, the intention of the opposition to demonstrate mass public protest through the collection of signatures “ended in humiliating failure.”
“Trying to blackmail the city authorities through open letters liberal community to register all regardless of the success of the collection of signatures is not enough combined with the bravura statements of the candidates of the high level of support and a good pace of filling the signature sheets”, — stated in the material.
The report’s authors stressed that the high level of media support is hardly correlated with the real public interest. It is also noted that in General the number of candidates who have passed the required number of signatures increased in comparison with 2014. According to experts, this indicates the increasing openness of the elections.
The collection of signatures of voters in support of candidates ended July 5, — each one would collect five thousand signatures in his support.
A single day of voting, which in some regions will elect deputies of the state Duma, heads of regions and deputies of legislative bodies of state power, will be held on 8 September 2019.
