The Russian Air and space forces (VKS) together with Syrian aircraft hit the positions of the Islamists “Khayat Tahrir al-sham” (HTS created on the basis of the banned in Russia “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra”) and “Hizb Ut-Turkestan-al-Islami” (“Islamic party of Turkestan”, banned in Russia). About it, citing a military source according to Al-Masdar News.

The Syrian government army involved in the attack on positions of the jihadists not only the aircraft but also helicopter gunships. The Russian space forces have hit the militants in the provinces of Latakia and Idlib with missiles and bombs.

It is reported that as a result of the RAID, the militants suffered heavy losses — especially in the city of Kabani in the North-East of Latakia. Due to the damage caused by aviation, Syrian ground forces were able to move quickly and gain a foothold in a strategically important region.

In June, the Russian VKS at least twice did the breaks in raids on Syrian armed groups. This was associated with periods of negotiations with Turkey, whose forces are actively present in Syria.
