The people of Russia have reduced their spending on drugs for the first time in 2015. This follows from the report of DSM Group, reports the newspaper “Izvestia”.

According to the report, this year from January to may, the Russians bought 2.1 billion packings of medicines. It is noted that this is 3.7 percent less than in the same period in 2018. The percentage of revenue from drugs has also declined: sales growth was 1.2% against four to ten percent in previous years.

Most Russians began to save on medications for skin diseases: revenue from them has dropped to 970 million rubles in comparison with the previous period. Spending also decreased by antimicrobial agents for systemic use and drugs for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory system.

According to General Director DSM Group Sergey Shulyak, the reason for reducing spending on medicines was the decline in real income. According to him, the decline of the pharmaceutical market by the end of the year will be one to two percent in real terms.

Earlier it became known that in 2023 Russia plans to completely solve the problem with the availability of medicines for beneficiaries, and to introduce a system of discounts for medicinal products for all citizens.
