The statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin that former U.S. President Barak Obama has not fulfilled the agreement on Ukraine in 2014, defies analysis, because Putin did not name any specifics. This was stated by former US Ambassador in Kiev, Director of the Eurasian center “Atlantic Council” John Herbst edition of “UKRINFORM”.

According to him, the rhetoric of the Russian leader does not make sense, because then Russia showed direct aggression, and the American side began to punish her with sanctions and support of Ukraine.

Herbst also noted that Putin’s statement is difficult to comment on because he’s not saying that Obama promised.

Earlier, on 9 July, it was reported that the President of Russia in an interview for a documentary film by American Director Oliver stone “In the struggle for Ukraine” recalled the agreements reached in 2014 during a telephone conversation with Obama concerning Ukraine. According to him, they were not executed by the American side. While Putin did not go into the details of the conversation.

In 2018, Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that in 2014, Obama asked Putin not to dissuade Viktor Yanukovych, who at the time was led by Ukraine of the agreement with the opposition.
