NewsOne asked for help after the cancellation of the teleconference with Moscow

Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne appealed for help to international organizations because of pressure from the authorities after the decision to hold a teleconference with Moscow. This is stated in the published on the website of the TV channel statement.

NewsOne staff noted that no case involving the beating of journalists of the TV channel has not been completed. “Feeling of impunity and using “protection” from the so-called law enforcement, the right-wing extremists are becoming bolder, and their actions against independent media and journalists — more aggressive,” — said in a statement.

NewsOne has sent an appeal to the organization Reporter without borders, Amnesty International Ukraine, Human Rights Watch, the European Commission, Council of Europe, Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, EU, UN, and the ambassadors of France, USA, Germany, Italy and other countries in Ukraine.

10 July the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that he will not allow the monopolization of television by people with Pro-Russian views. He explained that this issue will be resolved at the legislative level, after the elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

A teleconference between NewsOne and “Russia 1” was scheduled for 12 July, but due to threats of physical violence Ukrainian channel have refused this idea. The telethon was criticized by many politicians in Kiev, including Zelensky. In his opinion, so Moscow is trying to divide the Ukrainian people into two camps. The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine opened a criminal case on the attempted treason of NewsOne plans to hold a teleconference.
