Putin dismissed the Governor of Sevastopol

Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed Governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov. This was reported by press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, reports RIA Novosti.

Ovsyannikov resigned at his own request, said the Kremlin.

The acting Governor is appointed by the head of Executive Committee “all-Russia people’s front” and former acting head of the Republic of Khakassia Michael Razvozhaev.

Earlier, on 11 July from his post was made head of the Crimean Department of the Ministry of internal Affairs Oleg Torubarov. He has held this position since August of 2018. To perform the duties of the Minister appointed Deputy Minister Paul Karandila.

Dmitry Ovsyannikov was head of Sevastopol from June 2016 as acting in September 2017 fully assumed the position of Governor, having won in direct elections of the mayor. Before moving to work in the Crimea was the Deputy Minister of economic development in the government of Dmitry Medvedev.
