Approval of Washington about a possible nuclear strike by Russia US — the unrealistic scenarios that are not in Russian military doctrine. This statement was made by Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov at the hearings in the state Duma, reports “Interfax”.
“A senior us military allow themselves to even talk about some hypothetical response from the United States on the possible applying of Russia’s limited nuclear strike, including on American soil, with the use of low-power”, — quotes Agency the words of Ryabkov.
The diplomat stressed that such a scenario is absolutely unrealistic, and “left wondering” where the us military take them and why voiced. He also noted that the course of action of the United States based on the fact that Moscow is attributed to the concept of “escalation to de-escalation”, in which it uses nuclear weapons to win a non-nuclear conflict. According to him, plans of this kind have nothing to do with the military doctrine of Russia.
Ryabkov also commented on the issue of U.S. withdrawal from the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty). “The US is not averse to a gross distortion of reality and direct forgery, widely spreading blatant misinformation,” he said, speaking about how Washington illuminates the course of the negotiations with Moscow.
The INF Treaty was signed by Moscow and Washington in December 1987. The agreement forbade the USSR and the USA to produce, test and deploy ballistic and cruise land-based missiles of medium (1,000 to 5,500 kilometers) and small (from 500 to 1000 km) range, and was obliged to liquidate the appropriate launcher.
Russia considers a gross violation of the INF Treaty, the deployment in Romania and Poland launchers Mark 41, which is able to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles (with a range up to 2,500 kilometers), reaching almost any target on the territory of the European part of Russia.
The U.S. accused Russia of hiding the true possibilities 9М729 ground of the complex “Iskander-M”, stating that the missile has a range of up to 5,500 kilometers, not 500 miles as stated by the Ministry of defence.
