The failure of the project of the pipeline “Nord stream-2” European consumers facing high gas prices. In an interview, owned by Grigory Berezkin, told RBC the head of the Austrian company OMV Rainer Seele.
“Then we will begin a serious questions for energy supplies to Europe, we will become very short sales [of gas]. What will happen in this market? Gas prices rise significantly, Europe will pay much more for energy,” said Seele.
According to him, the implementation of such a scenario must be two conditions are fulfilled: Denmark does not issue a permit for the laying of “Nord stream-2” in its territorial waters, and Russia and Ukraine have not agreed to extend the transit agreement, which expires at the end of this year.
While Seele is convinced that “Nord stream-2” will be completed in any case, even if it occurs behind schedule. According to him, the commissioning shall take place in late 2019. OMV, along with four European oil and gas companies is financial investor in the project, whose sole shareholder is the Russian “Gazprom”.
