Sales of homeopathic medicines in Russia fell for a third consecutive year. About this informed the newspaper “Kommersant”, citing a study by DSM Group.
From January to may 2019 sales were down 14.4 percent compared to the same period of 2018. In January-may 2017 fell by 9.3 per cent, while over the same period, 2018 — 5 per cent. Revenue from pharmacy sales in January-may 2019 fell by 4.6 percent to 3.35 billion rubles.
According to General Director DSM Group Sergey Shulyak, in the first five months of 2019, the share of homeopathic medicines in pharmacies has declined to 0.81 percent in the revenue structure up to 0.34 percent. The drug market over the same period rose 1.2 percent to 415, 8 billion.
In Croup DSM believe that the demand for homeopathy has decreased due to the influence of doctors and scientists. In 2017, the Commission to combat pseudoscience of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) has criticized homeopathy and called it contrary to the principles of EBP.

Chairman of the Board of the St. Petersburg society of homeopathic Svetlana Pesonen said that the decline in sales of homeopathy is not associated with the opinion of scientists and is associated with lower incomes. DSM Group estimate that the weighted average price during the analyzed period increased by 11.5 percent, to 469 rubles per pack.
