The United States can impose duties against France in response to the plans of the European countries to establish an additional tax for companies providing digital services. It is reported TASS with reference to the trading statement of the representative of the United States Robert Leitheiser.
According to him, Washington is extremely concerned that the tax, which is likely to be approved by the French Senate, unjustly directed against American companies. In particular, speech can go about such IT-giants as Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google.
In this regard, the United States initiated the investigation, the results of which will be decided on the introduction of retaliatory measures. According to Bloomberg, countermeasures may be similar to those that Washington has taken against Chinese companies, particularly Huawei.
French tax on digital services will be 3 percent of the annual revenues of digital companies whose annual sales exceed EUR 750 million worldwide and 25 million euros in France. It is expected to be approved at the meeting on July 11.
