The state Commission confirmed the readiness of the carrier rocket “proton-M” with the space telescope “Spektr-RG” (“Spektr-REntgen-Gamma”) for launch from the Baikonur cosmodrome. This was reported on the website of the manufacturer of the rocket, the Khrunichev Center.
The meeting decided to launch ready for fueling and launch. Start scheduled for 15:31 Moscow time on Saturday 13 July.
June 22, General Director of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that the decision to postpone the launch of “Spectrum-RG” caused by the necessity to interrupt the trend of accidents in the Russian space industry. “To fly perhaps … Perhaps, before such decisions could be taken, but not now,” he said.
On 22 June, the RIA Novosti source said that the postponement of the launch of the spacecraft caused by the human factor.
On the morning of 21 June, Roskosmos, announced the postponement is scheduled for the same day of launch of “Spektr-RG” for “identified comments.” According to sources, RIA Novosti, the cause of the shift to the start was the low battery of the electrical system of the spacecraft charging which may require the removal of the rocket “proton-M” with the starting complex and its transport to the Assembly and test building. Subsequently, Roskosmos, confirmed this information.
Astrophysical Observatory “Spektr-RG” is designed to review the entire sky in x-ray range of the electromagnetic spectrum.
