The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) wants to establish a dialogue with young people, therefore, issued “Pastoral guidelines for working with youth”. This “Moscow speaking” said the Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate on relations of the Church with society and the media Vakhtang Kipshidze.
According to him, now people tend to join various communities, uniting of interests or characteristics. For example, out of love for a certain computer game. “They have some conditionally closed world, which has its own language, its own agenda, their meetings, their special aggravating circumstances. To communicate with them, it is necessary at least to consider,” said Kipshidze.
Previously, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church adopted a document with recommendations, which the priests were prescribed the rules of conduct with representatives of different youth subcultures. Among the trends was highlighted veganism, sports, minimalism, volunteering, football and geymerstvo. Clergy need to identify these young people by their appearance, attitudes and tastes and try to show them “the fullness of life in the Church with Christ.” For this they need to conduct educational work, including social networks, to meet with young people and to involve them in public life of the Church.
