The former Deputy head of the administration Viktor Yanukovych’s lawyer Andriy Portnov has told on air of TV channel NewsOne that Ukraine will soon begin mass arrests.

Portnow believes that Ukraine is waiting for the wave of arrests. According to him, this will happen after the disappearance of the guarantees that the current General Prosecutor of the country Yury Lutsenko gave former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. This will be followed by “an avalanche” of arrests, which will “go exponentially”.

Portnow added that all the necessary documents should be prepared now to flow month after the change of the Prosecutor General to begin mass arrests.

In early June the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky made a submission on the dismissal of Lutsenko. According to the head of the state, the reason was the absence of the attorney General legal education and procedural experience. The Verkhovna Rada declared that will not support the submission because it does not meet the requirements.

The state Bureau of investigation (RRT) of Ukraine is investigating five criminal cases against Poroshenko, part of which is excited by the statements of Portnov. Ex-President accused of attempting to usurp judicial authority, high treason, money laundering, possible misappropriation channel “Direct”, abuse of official position, legalization of the criminal proceeds offshore, tax evasion, and the falsification of documents about the formation in 2016 of the coalition of parliamentary factions and illegal appointment of the government.
