An international team of astronomers have announced the revelation of the mystery why most of the large exoplanets related to the type of “hot Jupiters”, not the moon. According to researchers, satellites were ejected from orbit around the gas giants and remained in the outer regions of planetary systems, becoming the analogues of Pluto. About it reported in a press release on Phys.org.
The researchers modeled the behavior of a hypothetical aktolun-vagrants, which was named “planetary” (ploonets). It turned out that they originally should be formed in orbit around large gas planets, including those that rotate at a short distance from the parent star. Half of these objects that are thrown by gravity in the outer space, ubegayut collisions with other planets and start to rotate around the star itself.
The existence of planet could explain why astronomers have found more than four thousand exoplanets but still failed to pinpoint any of aktywno. Previous studies indicate that at least some of the detected hot Jupiters should have large satellites.
In addition, planety can cause unusual dips in the light curve of the star Tabby or KIC-8462852, which is also known as a star with “alien megastruktur”. However, the existence of planet remains hypothetical.
