Director of the Ukrainian Institute of policy analysis and management Ruslan Bortnik believes that the economic blockade of Donbass and Crimea could be lifted after the elections to the Verkhovna Rada. This analyst told RT.
According to him, the script lifting of the economic blockade will be possible in the case that acting President Vladimir Zelensky “will be able to concentrate all the instruments of power”. This step, the analyst believes, will be “part of a serious compromise with Russia.” “I believe the likelihood of this scenario is 30 percent,” — said Bortnik.
Previously, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Eugene Moore said that his party, the Opposition bloc will demand from the President Vladimir Zelensky immediate lifting of the blockade of Donbass and the Crimea. He believes that the blockade beyond the control of Kiev territories has led to negative consequences. According to policy, these measures pushed the people living in these territories, since they no longer associate themselves with Ukraine.
The Crimea and part of Donetsk and Lugansk regions came from the Ukraine shortly after the change of power in Kiev in 2014. In the Donbas began the armed conflict that still continues. The Peninsula became part of Russia following a referendum. Kiev does not recognize the status of these territories and considers Moscow is responsible for the incident. Russia denies all charges.
