Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is counting on the joint production of anti-aircraft missile complexes (AAMS) s-400. His words the Turkish television channel NTV.
“We get our s-400. Said, “they can’t get them”, “they are unable to place them”. Said it would be wrong. And today flew for the eighth plane [with the details of SAM],” said the head of state.
According to him, the point in this question will be delivered in April 2020. Erdogan added that Turkey is becoming one of the few countries in the world that have a defense system. “Our goal is to create a joint production with Russia”, — he stressed.
In late June, the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the contract to supply s-400 Turkey implies a partial transfer of technology.
Earlier, Erdogan said that the deal with Russia to supply s-400 is the most important agreement for Ankara. Turkey also assured NATO that the Alliance will become stronger and will be the beneficiary of this transaction.
The delivery of s-400 to Turkey began in July. The US and other NATO countries fear that if Ankara will appear and s-400, and the American fifth generation fighter F-35, the Russian radar systems will learn to calculate and track these aircraft.
The Turkish side explained the Pentagon that the decision to buy Russian air defense system is associated with significant air and missile threats. However, on June 28, the US Senate banned the selling Turkey the F-35, and on July 13 was announced additional sanctions to enter into force at the end of the week.
A contract to supply Ankara with the four battalions of s-400 was reached in the fall of 2017. The contract is worth $ 2.5 billion, half of this amount will cover the Russian loan.
