Kyiv has not yet sent to Washington and London an official invitation to join the “Normandy format “talks on the Donbas, as previously planned. This was during the briefing said the Deputy head of President’s Office Vadim pristayko, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, the issue of expansion of the Normandy format is still being actively discussed, and some countries that were not previously mentioned in connection with him, have already expressed their desire to join the settlement process. In particular, we are talking about Canada and Poland.
Pristayko noted that while these initiatives remain at the planning level, however, if the “channel format” will not bring results, Ukraine will continue to work hard to find new options. “The”Norman format” is not the Bible, as the “Minsk format”. We can’t work within these formats, if they do not bring peace to our land. If we see and make sure these formats have been exhausted, we will look for new formats,” he said.
Vladimir Zelensky recorded July 8, a video message, in which he proposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold a meeting to discuss “who and who is not there in the Donbas.” He also noted that the meeting should take place in the presence of the presidents of the United States and France, Donald trump and Emmanuel Macron, and the heads of the governments of UK and Germany Theresa may and Angela Merkel.
Commenting on the proposal Zelensky, the Kremlin said that the proposed format of the meeting does not correspond to the channel, because the US and UK are not included in it. However, this proposal will be considered.
