Ukraine has advised Italy to make an impartial investigation on the case of murder in the Donbass Italian military reporter Andrea Rokelli, which accused the Ukrainian national guardsman Vitaly Marcia. This was during a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Ukraine, said the acting foreign Minister of Ukraine Yegor Bozhok, reports “European true”.
The meeting between the two diplomats was held on Tuesday, July 16, in the building of the Ministry of foreign Affairs. During the meeting Bozhko informed the Italian Ambassador that the foreign Ministry fully supports the position of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian believes the verdict is unfair to the soldier. According to him, the case Markiv is under personal control of President Vladimir Zelensky.
Bojko expressed hope that during the appeal proceedings “the Italian side will concentrate on a thorough and impartial investigation into the death of Roselli”. He noted that Ukraine is ready to help Italy in the investigation, to prove “unfounded accusations” against Marcia.
The Italian Ambassador in the course of the conversation said that he could not comment on the case because a court in Italy is independent.
31-year-old Italian Andrea Roselli was a well-known photo reports from places of military operations. In his works he tried to reflect the suffering of the civilian population. In may 2014, he and his accompanying Russian human rights activist Andrei Mironov were killed by mortar fire under Slavonic.
