Head of the sector of analysis of macroeconomic dynamics of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus Lyudmila Voronetskaya in an article for the newspaper “Eurasia Expert” identified five scenarios of development of Russian-Belarusian relations.
The fourth scenario involves the friendship between Russia and Belarus as well as between other countries of the Eurasian economic Union. “In this case, mutual support is, but not strong enough. Their own interests will still be significantly higher than the overall interests. In this situation sense in the Union state is not” — says Voronetskaya.
According to the fifth embodiment, Moscow and Minsk will move away from each other and can generally terminate any relationship. “Be the situation with Ukraine as an example of this scenario”, — said the expert of NAS.
The article was published in anticipation of the next round of talks between the two countries at the highest level: 17-18 July, the head of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko will pay a working visit to Russia during which he will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The two leaders scheduled an informal meeting on the island, reported by TASS press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
