The US President Donald trump said in an interview with reporters that Washington does not sell Ankara fighter-bombers F-35 due to the fact that she did not abandon the purchase of Russian anti-aircraft missile complexes (AAMS) s-400. About it reports Reuters.

The us leader stressed that he considers the situation “extremely difficult” and “unfair”, and said that it is discussing with the Turkish authorities. According to him, Turkey planned to buy more than hundreds of aircraft, but now will not be able to do so.

Previously, on 16 July, the candidate for the post of U.S. Secretary of defense mark Esper stated that the supply of the Turkish army Russian air defense system undermines the potential of the F-35.

The delivery of s-400 to Turkey started on Friday, July 12. The President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the deal with Russia for the supply of SAM is the most important agreement for Ankara and assured NATO that the Alliance will become stronger and will be the beneficiary of this transaction.

At the same time, the United States and other NATO countries fear that if Ankara will appear and s-400, and the American fifth generation fighter F-35, the Russian radar systems will learn to calculate and track these aircraft.

A contract to supply Ankara with the four battalions of s-400 was achieved in September 2017. The contract is worth $ 2.5 billion, half of this amount will cover the Russian loan. Also buyers of the s-400 “Triumph” are China and India.
