The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov spoke about the situation with the Chinese threat to Siberia and the Far East.
The Minister did this in an interview with “Arguments and facts”.
Lavrov asked if in the near future, Siberia and the far East become Chinese, especially living in the regions of 12 million Chinese citizens. In response, the diplomat indicated that “the reliability of this figure is questionable, and all the associated fears are exaggerated”.
According to the Minister, “the Chinese threat” — it is a myth that hyping people dissatisfied with the development of relations of Moscow and Beijing. He stressed that the border issue of the country “for a long time and finally settled”, any territorial claims of the parties are absent.
The foreign Minister also noted that the policy of strengthening the good neighbourly relations required for the development and prosperity of both countries. “Russian-Chinese cooperation is not directed against anyone”, — he added.
At the end of June it was reported that Russia and China have signed an intergovernmental agreement to transition to payments in national currencies.
