On the coast of lake Baikal look for harmful plastic



In late July, environmentalists expedition, Greenpeace examines plastic pollution on the shores of lake Baikal. It is reported TASS with reference to the press service of the organization.

According to the Agency, environmentalists plan to collect all the trash, separate the plastic, sort it by species and weighed. After the expedition, they will determine the top ten most popular plastic pollutants of Baikal shores.

After this expedition, environmentalists Greenpeace will travel to the Curonian spit, which is already beginning to prohibit and restrict certain types of plastic waste. “In addition, Greenpeace will offer to assess plastic pollution from the nearest water objects”, — said the Agency in the organization.

The preservation of lake Baikal and adjacent water bodies is one of the directions of the national project “Ecology”. All will spend four trillion rubles, three of which will receive from investors. In the framework of the Federal project “Preservation of lake Baikal” is planned by 2024 reduce by 70 percent the volume of contaminated wastewater flowing into the lake and neighbouring water bodies.
