Russia wanted to end incentives for palm oil and to raise VAT on this product with 10 to 20 percent. This was announced by the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, said in a statement on the website of the lower chamber. The corresponding bill is planned to submit for consideration on July 18.
According to Volodin, in the meeting held with deputies of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, discussed the complaints of citizens about the inadmissibility of widespread use in products of palm oil. The Russians believe that palm oil reduces the quality of the food.
Reduced VAT rate of 10 percent applies to products with milk fat substitute and other agricultural products, including vegetables, cereals, milk, bread, meat and fish, with the exception of specialities.
