Three French soldiers were killed from toxic fumes during an operation against illegal gold mining in French Guiana. This is with reference to the Ministry of defence told Reuters.
It is known that the soldiers were poisoned, when we were going to lay explosives and destroy with it the underground tunnels of miners. There were eight people: three died and five were hospitalized and were alive at the time of publication. It is reported that one of them was in serious condition.
The incident occurred on the evening of 17 July at an illegal gold mine in Maripasoula, the region near the border with Suriname and Brazil. France posted in French Guiana hundreds of its soldiers to fight illegal resource extraction.
Guiana is the largest overseas Department of France, its former colony. There is Kourou spaceport used by the European space Agency.
